The Orion Bar Nebula |

The Orion Bar represents a dramatic interface between the Orion Nebula formed by the hot young stars of the Trapezium and the cool molecular cloud from which they formed.
Ionising radiation from the Trapezium is incident on the parent cloud, photo-dissociating molecules into free atoms and then ionizing them.
Infra-red spectra of the Orion Bar suggest the presence of PAH-like material.
