Dr Gaisford undertook a PhD at the University of Kent at Canterbury (quantitative interpretation of reaction kinetics with isothermal calorimetry) before two post-doctoral research assistant posts at the School of Pharmacy, University of London. He was appointed Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Science at the University of Huddersfield in 2000 and returned to the School in 2003 as a Lecturer in Pharmaceutics. He was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2007 and Reader in 2012. He is currently Head of the Pharmaceutics Department and runs a research group comprising 8 PhD students and 1 PDRA. He has published more than 60 papers, 5 book chapters and 2 authored books.
