Alexei Arkhipovich LEONOV |
Soviet cosmonaut, born in Listvyanka in 1934.
Graduated from the Chuguyev Air Force Flying School in 1957, specialising in parachute training.
Selected as one of the Soviet Union's first 20 cosmonauts for the Cosmonaut Corps in 1959.
Made the first extravehicular activity (EVA) or Îspacewalkâ from the spacecraft Voskhod 2 on 18 March 1965.
Flew aboard the joint US-USSR Apollo-Soyuz Test Project mission in 1975.
