Dr Steve Best, came from Melbourne to UCL as a Ramsay Memorial Fellow to carry out spectroscopic studies with Robin Clark. He was appointed to a Lectureship in Inorganic Chemistry and explored the structure, bonding and magnetism of transition metal aquo compounds. In addition to being one of the more cerebral inorganic chemists, Steve was one of the staff's star cricketers. In 1994 he moved back to a Senior Lectureship at the University of Melbourne he now maintains a web page at University of Melbourne .
