A John Bloodworth

John Bloodworth, one of the stars of the staff cricket side, did his PhD with Alwyn Davies and became a lecturer in the Department in 1968 specializing in the organic chemistry of peroxides, trioxanes and analogues of the antimalarial agent qinghaosu .

Always popular with undergraduates for his enthusiasm, he rarely looked as avuncular as he does in the photograph from the old research booklet and website:
