Shawn Doonan

Shawn Doonan was an undergraduate here and studied for a PhD with Charles Vernon . He was apoointed to a lectureship in the Department which he held from 1965-1978, continuing to work
closely with Vernon and Dr Barbara Banks in Biochemistry on the characterization of the enzyme aspartate aminotransferase. Doonan was appointed head of the Biochemistry Department at University College Cork in 1978 and remained there until 1993. He is currently Dean of the Faculty of Science of the University of East London where he maintains a web page. (http://homepages.uel.ac.uk/S.Doonan/)
