Rudiger Faust

Tenure:
Senior Lecturer 1998 - 2003

Rüdiger Faust, born 1963 in Germany, received his Diploma in Chemistry from the University of Dortmund. During the course of his degree he spent six months in the Department working with Peter Garratt.
He then joined K. Peter C. Vollhardt at the University of California at Berkeley, USA, and was awarded a PhD in Chemistry in 1993. After a postdoctoral stint with François Diederich at the ETH Zürich, Switzerland, he moved as a lecturer in Pharmaceutical Chemistry to the University of Heidelberg, Germany.
In 1998 he accepted a appointment as a Senior Lecturer in Chemistry at University College London where he became a leading member of the SLC and winner of their Hamid of Aleppo award for 2001.
In 2003 he was appointed Professor of Mesoscale Chemistry at the University of Kassel in Germany, an appointment which gives him much less time to indulge in his favourite pastime of rollerblading.
