D R Llewellyn

D R Llewellyn

Tenure:
Lecturer 1952 - 1957

Llewllyn is remembered for operating the heavy water still the column of which ran the full height of the building. This provided a small supply of deuterium for kinetics experiments in the Ingold and related groups. The column ran day and night and once received the unwanted attentions of a Customs and Excise inspector who could not understand how a column so big could operate with a still pot so small.

Llewellyn moved to Australia in 1957.
